Plant Helper

Autodie LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, is a leader in the design and build of metal forming tooling for the automotive industry as well as a supplier of large scale machined products. Our world class climate controlled facility is centrally located just north of downtown Grand Rapids. Autodie is a company with more than 50 years of experience in fulfilling customer needs and offering local expertise for project management, engineering, machining, die construction & tryout, engineering change incorporation, buy-off and launch support.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Plant Helper. Plant Helpers perform a variety of tasks throughout the plant. They are responsible for operating the equipment necessary for efficient operation with regard to material handling, housekeeping, maintenance, etc. May be working with cranes, fork lifts, cherry pickers, scissors lifts, hydraulic jacks, drill presses, mills, grinders, breaks, shears, plasma cutters, saws, power washer, and a variety of hand and power hand tools.

We hire from within and the Plant Helper position often leads to apprenticeships and other training positions leading to eventual journeyman status.

Previous industrial experience helpful. MUST BE SHIFT FLEXIBLE AND WILLING TO WORK UP TO 55 HOURS.

Continuous Improvement / ISO Compliance Manager

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Continuous Improvement / ISO Manager. 


  • Learn and teach others in the use of basic, intermediate, and advanced problem-solving tools.
  • Lead and coach improvement projects which result in significant cost reductions, quality and safety improvements utilizing various problem-solving tools, various intermediate and advanced statistical analysis methods and Kaizen.
  • Perform internal audits of management systems to ensure compliance with ISO-9001, 14001, 45001 and 50001.
  • Follow-up on audit results through closure.
  • Perform as Management Representative for external surveillance and re-certification audits.
  • Maintain databases for tracking and reporting improvement activities by the organization.
  • Develop and present Management Review Reports.


  • BS in technical discipline, Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • Auditor or equivalent certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years industrial experience in auditing function of a manufacturing organization with engineering or continuous improvement background.
  • Experience required in Corrective and Preventative Action, knowledge of basic Quality Management functions and problem-solving disciplines (8D, 7 Step, 5 Why’s).  
  • Excellent computer skills with standard office programs and experience in manipulating large databases (MS Access, for example), and performing statistical analysis on extracted data.
  • Flexible and motivated with exceptional team building skills to accomplish objectives.
  • Must be detail oriented and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to maintain integrity and professionalism in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
  • Tool & Die Knowledge preferred.

Diemaker Journeyman

We are currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Diemaker.  Must have a valid Journeyman card or a minimum of 8 years automotive die shop experience working on dies. Must have the ability to read designs, knowledge of machinery and tools utilized in die construction, basic welding skills, experience in operation of presses and related equipment.

Accounting/Finance Specialist

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Understand and assist with the development of financial models to accurately track project, business unit and overall company performance
  • Track and analyze departmental labor utilization in the manufacturing process  
  • Assist with the monthly closing process including financial statement preparation
  • Assist with monthly reporting requirements including SOX compliance and fixed assets
  • Prepare account reconciliations and ensure documentation is readily available to support account balances
  • Journal entries
  • Assist with customer invoicing and cash forecasting

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Prior accounting experience in a manufacturing and/or production environment
  • Prior experience with percent complete accounting in a manufacturing, construction or project environment
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications including advanced Excel skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work on cross-functional teams

Supervise and organize workflow in the full cycle of the construction of a die through tryout, using World Class Manufacturing principles.


  • Manage Performance by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures and administering reviews.
  • Partner with Human Resources on recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees and by developing professional growth opportunities.
  • Foster a spirit of cooperation between employees and between and within departments.
  • Work to quickly and accurately address issues as they arise.
  • Work with maintenance on repairs and assists in evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Compile, initiate, sort and analyze production performance records and data; answer questions, respond to requests and report on status.

  • Promote the World Class Manufacturing initiative and culture by learning and practicing its continuous improvement tools for the best interests of the plant and our customers.

  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
